Talisen Gateway - A Secure Infrastructure Solution
The Talisen Gateway is a secure infrastructure solution that is an SSL–based platform that offers
access to any type of host application whether it's Web–based, client/server or mainframe.
Some clients use The Talisen Gateway to remotely access even their custom–developed proprietary
solutions. The Talisen Gateway offers access to some of today's most complex web applications,
such as MS Windows SharePoint, Lotus / Domino and UGS Teamcenter.
The Talisen Gateway enables secure infrastructure to more than 50,000+ users worldwide across
Talisen client organizations and their partners, including 11 of the Fortune 100. The U.S.
Department of Defense, U.K. Ministry of Defense, The Boeing Company, MBDA, Pratt & Whitney and
others in financial services and healthcare have deployed The Talisen Gateway for secure remote access.
Talisen Technologies was an early adopter and remains a leader in developing security solutions
using Secure Sockets Layer encryption . Talisen's experience optimizing solutions for remote
access over the internet dates back to the early 1990s, which distinguishes Talisen from other
security solution providers who have only recently expanded their offerings beyond IP Sec VPNs
to include nascent SSL VPN solutions.
The Talisen Gateway Features
Customizable Look and Feel
This gives the user the ability to change the content and/or graphic interface of the Talisen Gateway.
This yields a significantly customizable "portal" feel to the end user. The Talisen environment
includes project–specific sidebars and footers that include mission–specific options and tools. These
"project sidebars" are a critical first step in tailoring the Talisen Gateway to the needs of the user.
They allow a project or "community"–based customization that will be tied to the well–established
Talisen security infrastructure. This web–ware provides a supportable infrastructure that
less–sophisticated data managers can use to publish content within each project or community. The
Talisen GUI allows a high degree of user customization.
Unified Reverse Proxy
The Talisen Unified Reverse Proxy allows all information (applications and data) entering or leaving
the Talisen Gateway to do so through a single port. This feature saves both money and manpower as it
reduces the need for additional network support in the administration of firewalls in both the end
user’s company and the company with the Talisen Enterprise Gateway. In essentially every case,
Talisen Technologies recommends that the single port for this be 443, thereby enforcing strong
encryption of all transmissions.
Centralized Authentication
The Talisen Gateway provides a centralized authentication module that can be integrated with a variety
of authentication methods including User ID/Password, biometrics and smart cards. As existing projects
are completed and new projects begin, supplier and partner access to the corporate intranet will need
to be modified. Making such changes can be both difficult and time consuming. With the Talisen Gateway,
not only can you provide a collaborative environment to users, but also quickly add, delete, and modify
access to users as members to your environment change. Additionally, the Talisen Authentication Module
is integrated with LDAP, allowing the enterprise to function in concert with pre-existing
enterprise authentication mechanisms.
Integrated Virtual Private Network (VPN)
The Talisen environment also supports a VPN environment that includes hardware–based strong encryption.
This solution was developed to support users who have client/server architectures that are not readily
suited for the Web. Through Talisen Technologies’ European joint venture, a VPN has been integrated
as an alternative to SSL–based encryption and username/password authentication.
Talisen Management Suite
The Talisen Management Suite is comprised of the Talisen Account Request Management System, the
Talisen Special Request Queue, Talisen Management Panels, and the Talisen Administration Manager. The
core of the system, the Talisen Account Request Manager System is a web–based, supplemental account
request tool, used in conjunction with the Talisen Gateway to automate the majority of administrative
tasks concerning Talisen user accounts. Specifically, TARMS makes it possible for a company to
initiate, track, and audit all requests regarding the creation of new Talisen user accounts and changes
made to existing accounts. The Talisen Special Request Queue provides for the full–cycle automation
of non–recurring administrative or corrective actions. The fulfillment of both TARMS and Special
Request actions is centralized in the capabilities of the Talisen Management Panels. These web–based
panels control all manual administrative actions of the Talisen Gateway. Finally, the Talisen
Administration Manager tracks incoming assistance calls and provides full metrics for support desk
review.
Document Manager
The Talisen Document Manager is a tool that allows for the enhanced organization, access and management
of files and data. This web–based file management system is part of the Talisen Enterprise solution
and provides a secure, role–based file repository for authorized users and organizations. Users are
provided with a secure and centralized file location and the ability to create, delete, rename, and
search for files and/or folders dependent on their individual profile. The system provides the
flexibility to share data, without sacrificing security.
