Business Process Management (BPM) - Overview

Business Process Management software provides a rigorous toolset, which enables organizations to automate their processes from process definition, execution, and monitoring through process management. BPMS solutions provide a very cost effective method of automating and managing those processes which are the core competencies of any organization in a much shorter time span than previously thought possible. These processes provide real-time visibility to management at every level as to how well the organization is performing, and provide the tools to help make those processes more efficient. The ability to actually drive continuous improvement is now a reality.

Just as importantly, BPMS will drive process execution. No longer will an organization be dependent upon employees in different organizations to be aware when they are needed to participate in a process. The BPMS will actively monitor and message each participant in the process when and what they need to do, or information they must provide to the process for it to continue. The BPMS can monitor thousands of active processes and ensure that each participant is notified when they are needed to contribute.

If the process requires information from an already existing system, an integration can be easily created to pull information from, process as necessary, and update that same or additional systems. In this way, the BPMS can orchestrate the efficient collaboration of employees and systems to drive the process to completion.

The BPMS can become your most efficient “employee”, managing and reporting on thousands of active processes at any given time ensuring that everyone knows what and when they are to do something, and interfacing with existing systems as necessary to accomplish the completion of each process.
